Justice Day at St Aloysius

It was Justice Day at St Aloysius College, Huntingfield for the final day of Catholic Education Week for 2016.

The theme of the day was Heart to Heart: Having a Heart for Justice, a theme chosen specifically to compliment the Year of Mercy, which Catholics around the world are celebrating this year.

As part of their Religious Studies, year 10 students have been considering justice.

Today they hosted a Justice Day Expo, with stalls created by students to give information and raise awareness of a variety of social justice issues. Some of the stalls also promoted the charitable institution which seek to address injustice both in Australia and overseas.

The day also featured workshops for students to participate in, with some workshops presented by international students from UTAS.

Guest speakers later in the day included Mitch McPherson from SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY and Josie Young from the Hobart Women’s Shelter. Both presentations gave students local perspectives on ways to promote and foster ‘just communities’ close to home.
